Bolton have been dealt a severe blow to their Premier League campaign before it has even started with the news that Chung Yong Lee could be out of action for several months!
Lee sustained a potentially serious injury 25 minutes into today's friendly with Newport County. Wanderers were leading the game by 2-1 when a crunching tackle came in from Newport's Tom Miller with "an almighty noise" as he connected with the Wanderers winger.
During this pre-season Lee had looked to be at his best yet since joining the Wanderers. Lee had spent several seasons playing almost non-stop football because of various tournaments and International duties. This year was the first time Lee had had a proper pre season with Bolton to recuperate and get fully fit for the next Premier League campaign. Lee had been in great form over several friendlies for Bolton during their American tour and since returning to England.
It now looks as though Lee could spend several months out injured after he was stretchered off the pitch with his right leg strapped in a brace. The scene sounded pretty disturbing but hopefully it won't be as bad as it first appears to be. The extent of Lee's injury is yet to be confirmed by the club.
